Installation

Material

Stretch line over entire length.  Drive stakes at approximately
20’ centers.  Install stakes at finish floor elevation on approximately 2’ centers, with five stakes per 10 feet of material.  Additional stakes shall be used for support if bearing soil conditions require.  The joint shall be hung on the steel stakes.   This action will interlock joint and stake.  Install joint splices for perfect alignment of butt ends.  Clips are only used when the pour is started on the stake side first.  On continuous pours, concrete shall be placed to full depth on both sides of joint simultaneously.  Finish the concrete flush to top of the metal joint.  Do not edge joint!

Key-Loc® Joint is of 24 gauge galvanized steel with dowel knockouts 6” on centers.  It is furnished in 10’ lengths for 4”, 5”, 6”, and 10” - 12” slabs.
Supporting ratchet top stakes manufactured from 13 gauge steel available in 12”, 15”, 18”, 21” and 24” lengths.

Stretch line over the entire length.  Drive the stakes at approximately
20 foot centers.  Set stakes to finish floor elevation.  (Secure line at top
of stakes with tape.)  If vinyl cap
is used, drive stakes 3/16” deeper.

Intermediate stakes are driven to the bottom of the line at approximately 2 foot centers.  Use extra precaution to see that the stakes are aligned.
A 2x4 can be used to help in the vertical alignment.

Hang KEY-LOC ® JOINT on stakes and push downward.  KEY-LOCK ® JOINT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS in place.

Install “snap-in” joint splice.  Splice gives perfect alignment of joint ends,  no more need to try and place stakes at joint butts for alignment.

Knockouts are provided at 6” centers along the joint for dowels or rebar penetration.  The knockouts should be bent to approximately 45 degrees into the pour to act as anchors, especially when Key-Loc ® is used as a shut-off.  Install stake clip when it is necessary to pour on the stake side first.

When a strip is placed and finished, there are no added and costly steps of cutting, joint treatment, form stripping, edge damage or concrete surface damage.  Spalling and edge curling have been minimized.
